About Print-on-Demand - Fullfilled by Printful

The online shop for West Coast Acadian Podcast, WriterRamsay, and FolkWomanCreations, uses more than one print-on-demand and drop-shipping company because we want to be able to control our priorities such as: local printing, Canadian businesses, Canadian proprietors & owners, British Columbia Businesses (where possible), and our partners.

One of the services we use has been installed like an app on our website and creates orders on demand either through printing themselves and assembling a product, or by printing on a pre-assembled product. These products might come from anywhere in the world and we prioritize sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and water-preserving practices. We do our best to ensure our printers and producers are ethical in their business and labour practices.

If you have any feed back about this service or product, please let us know on our contact us page.

About Printful

(in mostly their own words)

On Sustainability:

Apparel products in our POD Supplier’s eco-friendly product collection consist of at least 70% organic or recycled materials, or such material blends.

To verify material content, our supplier collects valid certificates from their suppliers. As proof of the organic composition of the apparel products, they only accept GOTS or OCS certificates. For recycled composition, they accept either GRS or RCS certificates.

Vegan / Cruelty-Free:

Most of the items in our catalog are free of animal products. All Stanley/Stella products and a few other items from the supplier’s Eco-Friendly Collection are also PETA-Approved Vegan. If the product carries a PETA-Approved Vegan certificate, it’s mentioned in the product description.

Printful prioritizes sustainability and ethical sourcing, offering a range of products made with organic, recycled, or biodegradable materials, and utilizing print-on-demand to minimize overproduction, with a focus on eco-friendly inks and packaging. Here's a breakdown of Printful's sustainable and ethical practices:

Also From Printful on…

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain. This standard also sets limitations on other fibers that can be blended with organic fibers.
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a certification for non-food goods that confirms the organic material presence in the final product. It also follows the supply chain from its source to the final product.
The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) are international, voluntary standards that set requirements for third-party certification of recycled content and supply chain. The shared goal of the standards is to increase the use of recycled materials. The GRS includes additional criteria for social and environmental processing requirements and chemical restrictions.
Ecocert COSMOS standard ensures ingredients are derived only from natural origin except for a limited ingredients list authorized in small quantities. On average, Ecocert-certified products contain 99% ingredients of natural origin.
Ecocert standard verifies the composition, processing, and packaging of the product. The certification ensures an environmentally friendly and safe product that’s made with consideration of biodiversity and the preservation of natural resources. This certification includes other factors like the absence of GMO and petrochemical ingredients (parabens, phenoxyethanol, perfumes, and synthetic colorants).

Inks…

For DTG products, we use Kornit Water-based and NeoPigment inks that are Oeko-Tex™ certified, which means they are safe to print on children’s clothing and reduce environmental waste. These inks provide a high washing colorfast AATCC rating of 4.

For sublimation, we use Mimaki Dye Sublimation Ink Sb411 and Sawgrass SubliJet HD ink for sublimation products. Both of these inks are Oeko-Tex™ certified. For some sublimation products, we also use MYSUBLI-E Sublimation Transfer Ink.
